I am a doctoral candidate in Sociology at the University of California, Davis and a 2019 NAEd/Spencer Foundation Dissertation Fellow.

I am affiliated with the UC Davis Center for Poverty Research, the UCSB Blum Center for Global Poverty Alleviation, and the UC Riverside Blum Initiative on Global and Regional Poverty.

My research examines the question: why do so many students who begin community college leave without a credential? I draw on a variety of qualitative methods and theories about precarity, poverty, and emerging adulthood to understand students’ lives outside college and the barriers they face to upward mobility.
